Vitaflo to expand medical nutrition production with €8m investment

Vitaflo, a subsidiary of Nestlé Health Science, has announced plans to expand its factory in Rosbach vor der Höhe, Frankfurt, Germany.

The project, worth over €8 million, will create new jobs and enhance the company's distribution to over 40 countries.

Vitaflo is a provider of medical nutrition, focusing on essential dietary foods for individuals with rare, inherited protein metabolism disorders. The company’s products, including the brands Comidamed and Mevalia, are crucial for the approximately 5,000 affected individuals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and are distributed worldwide.

The Rosbach site has been part of Vitaflo since 2021, specialising in protein substitute products for the dietary management of inherited metabolic disorders like phenylketonuria (PKU).

Alexander von Maillot, CEO of Nestlé Germany, said: "By investing in innovation and utilising cutting-edge technology, Vitaflo provides pioneering nutritional therapies with clinical and health-economic value to improving the quality of life for affected individuals. This is as important to us as our traditional products in the retail sector."

David Jobse, commercial director of Europe, added: "Today, we are facing the next milestones in the history of our company. The investment in factory conversion enables us to produce according to the highest quality standards in the future. We already export our products to many countries around the world. In the future, we will be even more competitive by consistently meeting the growing demand."

Stefan Maar, Mayor of Rosbach, commented: "This expansion of the site and the associated investment also contribute to the economic development of our city".

The expansion is set to be completed by spring 2025.
