Mondelēz International’s Clif Bar brand has launched a new line of caffeinated energy bars in the US.
The Caffeinated Collection is designed to help consumers ‘jump start’ their activity with a 'kick of caffeine' in each bar. Featuring two new flavours, Vanilla Almond and Caramel Chocolate Chip, the range has been developed in partnership with pro women's basketball player Breanna Stewart and tennis pro Frances Tiafoe.
Clif Bar is well known for its snack-sized bars, all of which are made with whole ingredients and contain phosphorous to contribute to a normal release of energy, along with protein and fibre. The Caffeinated Collection energy bars are formulated with organic, non-GMO rolled oats and 10 g of plant-based protein per bar. Each Caffeinated Collection energy bar also features approximately 65 mg of non-GMO, organic caffeine, the equivalent of one espresso shot.
"Working hand-in-hand with Frances Tiafoe and Breanna Stewart on the Clif Bar Caffeinated Collection gave us first-hand insights that drove the development process forward and helped us create a functional yet delicious new energy bar," said Michael De La Cruz, R&D lead on development for the new range.
"Given Clif Bar's long-standing heritage in supporting runners, climbers, athletes and active people, each step of our process was made in service of purposefully crafting fuel to help power the most ambitious endeavours."
Clif Bar Caffeinated Collection energy bars are available at retailers across the US, with a suggested retail price of $1.99 per bar or $7.49 per five-pack of bars.
