Pilgrim’s-owned brand Richmond has unveiled a new line of 'Extra Tasty’ sausage products – Signature Pork and Pork & Caramelised Red Onion.
The new products were launched to tap into ‘taste,’ which Richmond says is the number one purchase driver in the sausage category and were co-created through consumer research and focus groups.
Both new products feature the classic taste of Richmond. The Signature Pork Sausages are said to have a rich flavour, elevated with classic herbs, while the Pork & Caramelised Red Onion Sausages have a hint of sweetness.
Chris Doe, marketing director at Pilgrim’s Europe, said: “The launch of our new Extra Tasty range is our biggest NPD announcement of the year. It creates an entirely new tier in the sausage category to meet the growing consumer appetite for bold, delicious flavours while offering an affordable way to elevate every at-home mealtime experience. We’re confident that this range will build on Richmond’s strong taste credentials, elevate consumers' mealtimes and drive sales in the sausage category.”
The NPDs follow Richmond's partnership with Heinz, which was announced in May this year. The companies launched new Heinz Beanz and Spaghetti with sausages, replacing Heinz's existing Beanz and Spaghetti with Sausages range.
The new sausages will be available exclusively in Tesco stores from 23 September.
