FoodBev’s annual award scheme is now in its 21st edition. For the past two decades, the awards have brought together the most creative minds from the beverage technology and product development sectors. This year's competition introduces five new categories, including ‘Best Bio-based Packaging’ and ‘Best Sports/Energy Beverage’.
For Bio-Based Packaging, entrants must present an alternative beverage package that strives to reduce the beverage industry’s carbon footprint and meets growing consumer demand for sustainability, convenience and health. End-of-life performance, recyclability and reusability, and resource efficiency will be core focal points here. Meanwhile, the Sports/Energy Beverage category pays homage to the innovative formulations designed to help athletes and other active consumers enhance their performance. The award judges will be looking out for products with interesting ingredient and flavour combinations, added functionality and health benefits, and a stand-out design. The new categories will be presented during a special live ceremony at this year’s BrauBeviale, which will be held in Nuremberg, Germany from 28-30 November.
