  • Cathedral City teams up with Summit Foods to launch new food-to-go products

    Saputo Dairy-owned cheese brand Cathedral City has partnered with chilled food-to-go manufacturer Summit Foods to launch three new convenience products. The collaboration will see the debut of two Cathedral City toasties – a cheddar and ham variant, and a cheddar and Red Leicester variant – as well as a Cathedral City cheddar and ham croissant. In a statement announcing the launch, Cathedral City said the partnership represents a strategic move to appeal to consumers seeking convenient and delicious snacking options while strengthening its presence in the chilled food category. Abi Armson, Cathedral City’s senior brand manager, commented: “Our partnership with Summit Foods is a testament to our commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality options that meet the evolving needs of our customers”. She added: “With consumers becoming increasingly time poor, shoppers are looking for quick, convenient and fresh meal solutions to satisfy their everyday food needs. Our new toasties and croissant tick all these boxes, whilst retaining the high quality and delicious taste that you would expect from Cathedral City.” The range launched in 206 Sainsbury’s stores across the UK from 25 September 2024, with an RRP of £3.00 for each product. It will be located within the snacking area of the chilled fixture of the supermarket, outside of the traditional cheese aisle. Cathedral City’s latest collaboration builds on the success of its other recently launched innovations, including its partnership with Heinz to launch Heinz Cheesy Beans earlier this year.   • Brach's and Warner Bros team up for Elf-inspired confectionery line

    Ferrara Candy Company-owned brand Brach's has partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products to launch a line of confectionery items inspired by the movie Elf. The range is available in three variants: Candy Canes, Swirly Twirly Gum Drops and Candy Cane Forest Mellowcreme. Lauren Holtz Pezza, director of Brach's and seasonal marketing at Ferrara, said: "Brach's is honoured to collaborate with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products to celebrate the adored film Elf, that's just as synonymous with the holiday season as our candy canes". "Whether you're watching your favourite holiday films, like Elf, or decorating gingerbread houses, Brach's candies are the perfect treats to enjoy together while making sweet memories this season." The limited-edition sweets are available at US retailers nationwide.

    Nactarome is back in the news, having finalised its second acquisition this week. Following its purchase of natural caramel ingredients supplier, Royal Buisman, Nactarome has today announced its acquisition of Calaf Nuances, a Spanish producer of flavours solutions for the F&B industry. The news marks Nactarome’s fourth acquisition this year as the company looks to expand its product offering and reach. Calaf Nuances has been supplying the food, beverage and ingredients industries since 1998. Its flavours are based on an aroma nucleus that is obtained at a molecular level through the use of Calaf Nuances' own technology. The flavour solutions provider is said to have a large group of loyal customers based internationally across Spain, Europe and Mexico. It has its own in-house technologies including biotransformation, Maillard reactions, distillation, concentration and encapsulation. The latest acquisition will strengthen Nactarome’s existing range of sweet and savoury flavours and savoury blends for the F&B industry. Manel Alcaide, managing director of Calaf Nuances, commented: “This union creates a clear improvement of our proposals for the food flavours market. We are glad to say that all our clients around the world will benefit from all these new opportunities.” Luigi Del Monaco, CEO of Nactarome, added: “With this acquisition, we have not only expanded our presence in the Spanish and Latin America market but also gained access to new competencies and capabilities that will enable us to serve our customers even better. This move aligns with our long-term strategic plan to strengthen our position and create sustainable value for our stakeholders.” In the last five years, Nactarome has expanded its operations, which now comprises 13 production sites and over 550 employees. Terms of the recent transaction were not disclosed.
